Spiritually Yours
Gal. 2: 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ Who lives in me
In the early days Christianity strange groups developed in the church believing all kinds of things. One group that gave problems believed that your soul was separate from your body and that only your soul can be saved. The conclusion? You can do anything with your body because it is going to be lost anyway. This led to some awful behaviour by those who professed to be followers of Christ.
At the start of this quarter, we saw that the Christian is a whole person having spiritual, mental/ intellectual, physical and social dimensions. We also saw that all of these areas cannot be separated. What happens in my spiritual life affects the social; what happens in the physical affects the intellectual, and so on. Luke 2: 52 told us that Jesus developed in all these areas and as we try follow His footsteps we should grow in these areas as well. This quarter we began with the spiritual dimension; seeing how God relates to us directly and how we can better understand His will for our lives. We did this because we believe that this dimension is important for understanding the other dimensions.
As we prepare to focus next quarter on the mental, intellectual and emotional dimension, what have we gained from this quarter? That:
- God is Number One in our lives and we must treat Him this way if we want to live successful lives.
- All of us are sinners, worthy of death, but the sacrifice of Jesus gives every person the opportunity of salvation.
- There is a spiritual war going on and we are at the centre of it. Each of us must take a side in it; and in the end, the decision we make will determine our eternal destiny.
- Our choices are important.
- God has a plan for the life of each person and that plan is for our greatest happiness.
- Our duty is to love God and worship Him and to love our fellowmen and serve them.
May God help us to live good spiritual lives.
Dear Lord, you have reminded me of the importance of the spiritual part of my life. I now dedicate this part of me to you, as I seek to be TOTALLY YOURS, in Jesus’ name, amen.
